What I Learned From KA

I learned a lot of things while doing this project.  The first thing that I learned from this project is the story about Sir Gawain and The Green Knight.  The story is very strange and I also found out that the story was originally a poem.  I also relearned how to do Prezi since that is what type of program we used for our project.  I also learned that we can work on a project online through Prezi which will be useful for future projects.  I also learned a decent amount of things from the other people’s projects.  I learned more about the Round Table and the Battle of Something.  However, I did not remember the name of the battle of Sean and Howard’s presentation even though that was their topic.  I found out more information about how strange and weird all of the old King Arthur myths are.  They all have some sort of strange creepiness into them that seems strange to me from a twenty first century point of view.

Hero

There are heroes in real life.  Not just Batman and Superman.  There are real, live people that live and breathe.  At first I wished to write about George Washington, but this assignment required me to write about a living person.  I found man by the name of John McDonald.  John McDonald is a carpenter that makes furniture.  At the age of 41 John McDonald did something heroic that risked his own life.  One day on the freeway an SUV flipped over on its side.  A fire started and John McDonald took action.  He took action by going out of his way to got to the SUV, and rescue a little girl from being burned to death or being blown apart from the SUV exploding.  http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?section=news/local&id=6932359
See this link for the video of him saving the day.  I think he is a hero because he didn’t have to save that little girl.  All he had to do was keep on driving.  This person is a hero and he is a real one.  Not many people are.

MIT OpenCourseWare

After looking over the website of MIT Open Course Ware, we saw that there are a lot of catagories and sub catagories. Under each catagory is another sub catagory where you can choose one specific course. For example, under Engineering, which is a catagory, you can find a whole other classes based on engineering such as Biological Engineering, Chemical Engineering,Civil and Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Engineering Systems Division, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering. After choosing which certain class you want to learn about, you click into it.When you click into it, you can find videos and audio courses which you can download to listen or watch if you do not wish to read. There are also tranlslated coursed for people who do not understand English or who are not fluent in it.  These languages include Chinese, Thai, Turkish, Spanish, Portugese, and Persian. We think that the website provides many courses for people who wish to learn during their free time.  However, it would probably be best if you get a high school degree and graduate from college.  This website is still great for learning for additional help in certain courses or a sort of way to gain more inforamtion during somebody's free time.

We’re back on the subject of heroes again and this time I shall jot down some things that make somebody a hero.

Somebody that does something for the greater good
Somebody who does not do something for their own personal ends.
Somebody who does something for others or other things (for the good of the people)
Somebody that does something above the call of duty.
Somebody that does some deed that deserves approval from the general population.
Somebody that does not do something that harms others.
Somebody that does not influence others for their own needs or for their
Somebody that does something that furthers the goals of mankind.
Somebody who doesn’t have to be nice but does good things through a sterner way.
Somebody who does something that helps others along in a BIG way, not just opening the door for somebody.
Somebody that makes something improve in a way that it helps economy, etc.

Criteria

When I edit other people’s papers I look for several things. I look for grammar, even though I am fairly bad at it.  If I see mistakes that I know about, I edit it.  I look for how well the essay is written to.  If the writer makes the story constantly shift so that it doesn’t make sense or chronological order then the paper isn’t well written.  I will also see how the story uses its words.  If the author of the story constantly uses words such as and or this then the author will also probably lose points for unnecessary repetition.  I do not think that being lenient is good for a student grading another student because if you do they will never improve or learn from their mistakes since they believe their peers think they are correct.  This may cause some dislike but it is the honest way of grading your class mate’s paper.

Legendary

We all know about Robin Hood or King Arthur.  Theses are legends.  Most legends have similar traits.  They are usually good people.  They always seem to fight for the greater good and do nice things.  Some qualities of somebody becoming a legend in the near future would be someone who does something memorable, someone that helps others, and something that did anything hard to believe.  However, I do not believe that anybody in today’s modern world will ever become a legend.  We are so technologically advanced that we record anything noteworthy.  They will always be in a book somewhere or electronic storage devices in the future.  Unless the world goes into a nuclear war and there are survivors of the human race, then I doubt that there will be any more legends.  As a society we are too modernized and informed that we will never be without knowledge unless some sort of apocalypse will happen to us.

Remember Don't.....

There are many things that you shouldn’t do.  And there are many consequences you can receive from doing these things.  I will list some of them right below.
W: Remember don’t play with fire.  C: You get burned/other people get hurt.
W: Remember don’t stay up to late.  C: Horribly fail test the next day and face consequences from parents.
W: Remember do not cheat on other people’s tests.  C: Finds out you’re cheating, your test gets a big fat 0 and you flunk that class.
W: Remember don’t do drugs.  C: Get all sorts of messed up and end up in a hospital or dead in some alley way.
W: Remember don’t smoke.  C: Contract lung cancer and end up dying a slow death over a few years.
W: Remember don’t steal from others!  C: Ends up in jail for committing a crime against another person.

Remember, don’t do anything stupid in life, you will probably regret it.
